Dependent personality disorder

Dependent personality disorder is a mental health condition in which people depend too much on others to meet their emotional and physical needs. While the cause of the disorder is unknown, dependent personality disorder typically begins in childhood and is equally common in men and women. Symptoms of dependent personality disorder can include an inability to make decisions, avoidance of being alone and going to great lengths, even suffering abuse, to stay in a relationship. Talk therapy is considered to be the most effective treatment for dependent personality disorder; medication may also be used to treat conditions like anxiety and depression.
